Joost is co-founder and CEO of SuperData Research, a market research firm specialized in digital, mobile and online games.
As one of the first academics to study video games, Joost has over fifteen years of commercial research experience in interactive entertainment and technology industries. Before receiving a doctorate from Columbia University, Joost worked as an analyst on both the financial and consumer-side of the games industry. Anticipating the shift to digital games early on, he founded SuperData in 2009. Today SuperData is a leading games industry researcher with clients such as Activision Blizzard, Amazon, Apple, Electronic Arts, Facebook, GameStop, Microsoft, Google, Nexon, PayPal, and Wargaming.net. In late 2017 SuperData raised a series A financing round.
Joost is also a recurrent speaker at major industry events such as GDC and Casual Connect, and is frequently quoted by outlets such as NBC, Forbes, Fortune, the Wall Street Journal, and NPR. In addition to his business adventures, Joost teaches at the NYU Game Center and Stern School of Business. He lives in Brooklyn with his wife Janelle and son Maximus.
